Ride with the BTA on New Year's Day
Posted by: CarlDec 11 2009, 3:42 pm
Join the BTA on January 1 for an easy and fun bike ride around town. This 50-year tradition is perfect for recovering from the previous night's activities, and the whole family is invited. This year's ride is all about the Best and Worst of 2009.
Biking in Portland has changed a lot in just one year. We'll highlight some of the best new additions to Portland's bike infrastructure and bike culture, possibly including but not limited to:
- Cycletrack at PSU
- Buffered bike lanes downtown
- A new bike boulevard in Sellwood
- An eruption of bike-based businesses
- Two wildly different bike shrines
- On street bike corrals everywhere!
We'll also visit some of the sub-par links in our bike network and talk about improvements we'd like to see in 2010.
Where: Tom McCall Waterfront Park under the Morrison Bridge
When: Meet at noon, ride 'til 1:30 pm or so
More: Warm up after the ride with coffee and treats at a TBD location.
Kids: It'll be about 12 miles, so if they're up for that, bring 'em!
What if: Rain, sleet, snow or shine!
Please RSVP to Carl Larson at larson@bta4bikes.org or 503-226-0676 x16.
Volunteers: We could use a little help with the ride and setup at the destination. Contact the BTA's Volunteer Organizer, Michael O'Leary, via email at michael@bta4bikes.org for more information.
