Boone Bridge in Wilsonville closed to northbound bikes/peds for 6 weeks

The northbound shoulder of the I-5 Boone Bridge in Wilsonville will be closed to bicycles and pedestrians for six weeks starting Monday, July 13. The closure is required to prepare for the construction of the new auxiliary lane being built on I-5 north from the Boone Bridge to the Wilsonville Rd. off-ramp. The southbound shoulder will remain open.
The nearest alternate route across the Willamette River is the Canby Ferry, four miles to the east.
According to Lily Gordon, Community Affairs Coordinator at ODOT, the project team considered several options for providing northbound bicyclists and pedestrians with a better alternative to the Canby Ferry, but none proved viable. Ideas including routing cyclists through the construction zone behind a concrete barrier, constructing a temporary path from the north end of the bridge (where the half-mile construction zone begins) to the shore, and erecting a concrete barrier on the southbound shoulder to make two-way travel safe on that side. She also said that ODOT welcomes input from bridge users, and is open to considering other solutions throughout the six week period.

How about a temporary ferry next to the Boone Bridge? Four miles to Canby (and back again on the other side) is a long way for a bike rider and will add a lot of time to a bike commute.

Contact SMart(Wilsonville bus) They have a bus for Carbonneau to the WES station and it is free.
I missed it this morning and had to ride on the wrong side of the bridge. I was stopped by CLACKAMAS County Sheriff who gave me a very stern warning. So I walked the rest of the way to the exit.
The bus is about every hour or so and Smart told me the ridership for that bus can accomodate a few bikes at a time with no problem to the Wes station.
Otherwise, you will have to walk your bike on the south bound lane from the Canby exit to the S. Wilsonville exit before riding again.
