Alice wants your creativity

One of the traditions of the BTA's annual Alice Awards & Auction is that Alice travels the world in search of diverse bike ingenuity - whether it's infrastructure, industry, culture, or tradition. Recognizing the uniqueness that our own state brings to bicycling, this year Alice comes home to Oregon to celebrate our innovation in the bicycling world. And we want your help in showcasing diverse Oregon stories.
At this year's event, we will be airing video made up of submissions from bike-minded individuals and groups from across the state. Please send us your short (one minute or less), edited video clips that convey your favorite biking adventures and stories of why you enjoy biking using images, quotes, music, artwork, poetry, etc. Please read the video requirements (below) for helpful instructions and requirements on how to submit your masterpiece(s).
The creative direction is completely up to you, but if you're having trouble finding a jumping off point, below are a few questions to get you started (or that you can simply answer):
- If aliens landed in Oregon tomorrow and you had to explain how bicycling is superior to their intergalactic cruisers, what would you convey?
- Why do you bicycle alone? With your family? With a group? With aliens?
- How is Oregon the best state for bicycling?
- What's the coolest thing you've ever found on a shoulder, or in a bike lane, or on a trail while biking?
- What's your favorite "secret" bike route in your town? The one that you feel like only you and your friends know about?
- What do you think the future of cycling looks like in Oregon?
Thank you… and we will see you at Alice on March 7, 2009 at the Oregon Convention Center.
