Join us at the BTA office (233 NW 5th Ave.) this Wednesday, November 19th, 6-7 pm for our free, bi-monthly Bike Legal Clinic, led by bike lawyer, Ray Thomas. If you've had a run-in with the law or another vehicle and want to know what your rights are, or if you're curious about the legality of your favorite shortcut, or if you just like to know the rules, come to this clinic.
You'll get a free copy of Pedal Power: A Legal Guide for Oregon Bicyclists, and Ray will spend 50 minutes walking you through the book and explaining what the laws mean for bicyclists on the roads. He'll also answer questions and give advice.
Please RSVP to Stephanie at stephanie[at]bta4bikes[dot]org or 503-226-0676 x23.

ODOT has constructed an incomplete pavement overlay between West Linn and Portland on HWY 43. The overlay stops at the fog, leaving an abrupt edge of about 2".
To not avail, I have requested Ron Kroop (ODOT District Manager) and Basil Chrostopher (ODOT Regional Bicycle Coordinator) to address this safety concern. Last Thrusday, about a mile north of Lake Oswego, my front tire slipped on the abrupt edge and I fell into the lane of traffic. Had this happened 30-seconds later, I would be dead now. Would the Alliance be able to help me get this resolved? Neither Ron or Basil will return my e-mails or phone calls. I have pictures of the abrupt edge, and my bicycle helmet that is nearly cracked in-half.
