Fire jugglers, disco dancing and doughnuts: The Night Ride 2008

The Night Ride 2008 was a great success! Well over 1,200 riders and 100 volunteers came out to celebrate cycling in Portland and support the BTA’s work on projects such as Bicycle Boulevards and the Cycle Oregon Kids Camp.
The weather was perfect, the costumes were amazing, and Scott Bricker gave everyone a mini Bike Safety lesson at the ride start.
The Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers got everybody going and a Marimba Band welcomed everybody back to the doughnut party at the end.
In between riders saw Filmed by Bike, danced at a Disco Party, dodged the fire jugglers and did what Portland does on beautiful summer nights.
Since 2000 Portlanders have seen miles of blinking bike lights winding through their neighborhoods in what has become an iconic summer event.
Thank you, Good Sport Promotion for organizing The Night Ride, and thanks to the sponsors: Bike Gallery, Weir’s Cyclery, Bike n Hike, Gorge Delights, Fun Reflector, Laughing Planet, Spud!, Amtrak Cascades and OR Bike, and especially everyone who went on the ride.
