City of Eugene Focuses on Traffic Safety

For more than 30 years, Eugene — with its 30 miles of off-street paths, 89 miles of on-street bicycle lanes and five bicycle/pedestrian bridges spanning the Willamette River — has been recognized nationally as a bike-friendly town.
But despite the fact that cyclists are an accepted part of the local landscape, city officials felt a need to expand their effort to inform people about the rules of the road.
