Pro Racers, coming to a school near you!

This Tuesday morning the sixth graders at East Sylvan Middle School were host to riders from the all star Healthnet Pro Racing Team. Little did I know at the time, but these guys are fast, really fast.
Rider Kirk O'Bee won the US Pro Criterium in 2007, Tim Johnson in his "off season" won the US cyclocross championship in 2007 ranking him in the top 25 in the world, Phil Zajicek won the Cascade Cycling Classic last year and Rory Sutherland won the individual NRC points title last season. The team fielded questions for East Sylvan students with aplomb, recounting racing against Lance Armstrong, wicked crashes (saved by the helmet again!) and collectively winning 36,000 dollars in a two hour race last year. All told this was a great experience for the East Sylvan students to further explore the wonderful world of cycling after completing their BTA Bicycle Safety course in April.
