Register for the Oregon Bike Summit

This is a final reminder and nudge for you to register for the Oregon Bike Summit, being held this Friday night and Saturday. I am really excited about this year's agenda. Plan on doing a lot of statewide networking, information gathering, and hopefully move towards agenda setting that will help build the bicycling movement in Oregon.
We Will Ride!
The Summit is at the Jantzen Beach Red Lion in North Portland (bicycle map). On Friday Roger Geller and I will be conducting a bike tour that departs the Old Town MAX station at 2:15 p.m. and concludes at the Hotel followed by a reception and dinner. A group ride will depart the hotel at 9:15 pm.
I am also working on additional group rides that will assist folks in finding the best bicycling routes to the conference. Most importantly, we are planning a bicycle / MAX dinner and evening excursion on Saturday after the conference.
Register for the 3rd annual Oregon Bike Summit on April 4th and 5th in Portland.
I hope that you will take the time to remind all of your riders that THEY HAVE TO OBEY THE SAME LAWS AS MOTORIZED VEHICLES DO!!!!!!! Too many of you riders think that you don't have to follow the same rules as cars. I see them everyday running Stop signs and lights and riding in between lanes of traffic in the downtown area. They never signal when turning corners or even look alot of the time. Think about it you just might save one of their lives!!!!!

But let me tell you, as a 62 year old bike commuting grandmother, there are a heck of a lot of cell-phone gabbing, coffee drinking drivers not signaling their turns, not yielding the right of way, speeding, oblivious to bikes and pedestrians. The damage they can do can be fatal, as we have learned. We're all in this together. Let's share the road.

I spend more time traveling in a car than on a bike. I agree with your message.
I also can’t believe the number of MOTORIZED VEHICLES I encounter EVERYDAY COMMITTING ILLEGAL , CARELESS, THOUGHTLESS AND BLATANTLY IDIOTIC ACTS while driving their cars. I am sure they get through the day without major consequence and never consider their vehicle a 2000lb+ DEADLY WEAPON. More people get killed or maimed in automobile accidents than cycling accidents.
I am sure we will be reminding all who attend to OBEY THE LAWS. I hope you remind ALL MOTORIST you encounter to OBEY THE LAWS AT ALL TIMES with the same fervor you direct to bike riders.
