House Bill 3623 passed out of the House today with a unanimous vote. This is the bill Rep. Krummel (R-Wilsonville) sponsored. It creates State rules for the placement of roadside memorial signs for bicyclists and pedestrians killed by motorists. Family members will be able to pay a fee to have the signs installed and maintained for three years.
Rep. Krummel spoke movingly about his friend Eric Kautzky who was killed on Tualatin-Sherwood Road in Rep. Krummel’s district. Eric was an educator and Rep. Krummel hoped theses signs would carry on Eric’s legacy by educating motorists on the need to share the road.
The bill now goes on to the Senate where it is expected to pass handily and receive the Governor’s signature. Our compliments to Rep. Krummel for his persistence in getting this bill passed into law.
