Support Portland's Safe Sound and Green

For the past year I have sat on the Executive Committee and the Steering Committee for the City of Portland's Safe, Sound and Green transportation finance effort. This has been a very public process with stakeholders from all aspects of Portland's community; with town halls and open houses abound.
The BTA supports the Safe, Sound and Green effort in that it will serve a dire need of bringing all of Portland's streets in the worst condition to good condition. For cyclists and pedestrians it will provide funding for:
- 114 miles of new low-traffic bicycle boulevards
- Safer Routes to School programs at all Portland's elementary schools
- Sidewalks along arterial streets that lack them, especially in SW
- Improvements for high-crash intersections
- Neighborhood priority bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects
We urge your support for the bicycle and pedestrian elements program. You can comment on Commissioner Adam's blog, email all Commissioners and the Mayor or attend the City Council meeting Wednesday 1/9 starting at 2pm (it will be a long one.)
