Support NP Greenway

This proposed trail would go from the Steel Bridge north to the St. John’s Bridge, connecting far North Portland with the Eastside Esplanade. The trails proposal also includes adding a bike path to the BNSF railroad that spans the Willamette River between the I-405/Fremont bridge and the St. John’s bridge. Imagine that! Trips from North Portland to NW Portland would be much quicker, making that trip to Trader Joe’s by bike more feasible!
At this time, the NP Greenway is included in a bundle of Metro trail master plans (RTP #10355), which is currently on the draft RTP (Regional Transportation Plan) Financially constrained list. The list will be forwarded by JPACT/MPAC for public comment Oct 15th-Nov 15th. Being on this list means that it will be eligible to receive federal dollars (in future MTIP cycles) to pay for the master plan.
The master plans in the that bundle include:
- Hillsboro to Council Creek & Gales Creek Trail
- North Portland Greenway Trail: Steel Bridge to St.T John's Bridge
- East Buttes Loop Trail Master Plan: Gresham and Happy Valley to Damascus
- Springwater Corridor to Clackamas Bluffs and Greenway
- Gateway to the Columbia Gorge Trail: Gresham/Fairview to Troutdale to Columbia Gorge Trail Connections
- Portland South Waterfront to Lake Oswego to West Linn Trail
- Columbia Slough Trail
- Regional Trails Strategy and Master Plan for the Portland Metro Area (including relationship of regional trails to on-street bikeways and local trail system).
