BTA Leadership Change

The Board of Directors for the BTA, today announced that Scott Bricker has been appointed as interim executive director for the organization.
Outgoing Executive Director Evan Manvel announced he was leaving the organization after two years of service. Manvel plans to take a life sabbatical after helping the organization significantly increase its budget, staff, membership and media presence.
Bricker joined the BTA in 1998 as Education Manager, and was a leader in developing the innovative and award-winning Safe Routes to School programs. He started working on legislative issues in 2001 and has served as Legislative and Policy Director since 2004. He helped lead the successful effort to pass legislation this session that improves bicycle safety, including increasing penalties for serious injury or killing of a bicyclist and requiring a minimum safe passing distance — greater than if the bicyclist were to fall off their bicycle into the roadway — in 35 MPH or greater speed zones.
“I’m honored to be able to lead such an important and dynamic organization,†said Bricker. “The BTA has a great staff and membership that will help further bicycling opportunities and help make Oregon the bicycling state in the country.â€
Bricker has committed to leading the organization through the end of the year, when he and the board will evaluate the organization's standing.

Scott,
Congratulations on your appointment. I always wondered where you would end up once you left the Urban Ecosystems Project at PSU. I worked with you and Peggy Noone way back when.
I'd love to do something about you and your program on Metroblogging Portland. I'm Kai on the website.
