Congressman Blumenauer Pushes the Bicycle Commuter Act

Congressman Blumenauer's office writes…
"Congressman Blumenauer has been hard at work to have the Bicycle Commuter Act included in the Energy Bill being marked up by Ways and Means on Wednesday June 13… Now is a great time for you and your membership to let your representatives know this is a priority."
The Bicycle Commuter Act is a low-cost (est. less than $10 million a year), equitable extension of the existing tax breaks enjoyed by motorists and transit users to cover the cost of parking and tickets respectively. It's a simple solution to encourage behavior that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote healthy lifestyles, ease congestion etc.
The bill currently has 55 cosponsors, which is the highest we've had.
Earls asks us to write Congressmembers today…but he is the only Oregon Representative on the committee. Feel free to show your support by writing Earl.

Dear Congressman Blumenauer:
As your constituent and a fellow advocate of bicycle transportation, I'd like to offer thanks and express my appreciation for the fine job you're doing in Congress, especially in regards to the Bicycle Commuter Act and other critical environmental issues. For as long as you embrace sane environmental policies you can count on my vote.
Sincerely,
Phil Hanson
