London Times Goes to Bat for the Bike

In this recent London Times editorial, the paper argues that the proceeds from an increased congestion charge area should be invested in bike infrastructure.
As if written by a bike advocacy group, the editorial notes the dramatic increase in cycling (almost 50% in the last five years), and the speed and efficiency of the bike. They write:
"These people are not the mad, bearded loons of popular myth, their coat-tails flapping crazily as they pedal round the Elephant and Castle. The modern cyclist is making an elegant and intelligent response to pollution and traffic congestion.
…it would be churlish not to encourage cycling as the cheap, green answer to so many contemporary troubles"
