Another BTA Bill Gets a Name: SB 573 Ped Hand Signal
Posted by: EvanFeb 20 2007, 5:32 pm
As described earlier, one of our traffic safety bills that we're working on with the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition this year would allow pedestrians (and dismounted cyclists) to get the right of way at a crosswalk by raising their hand, instead of dangerously entering the crosswalk. Now it's got a name: Senate Bill 573.
It's sponsored by long-time biking legislator Senator Ginny Burdick (SW Portland), Senator Rod Monroe (E Portland and Happy Valley), and Representatives Tobias Read (Washington County) and Peter Buckley (Ashland).

If you've got a minute, write the legislators (Senators and Representatives) and thank them for supporting this important bill.
