Federal Level Advocacy

The Bicycle Transportation Alliance works with several national bicycling organizations to help citizens weigh in on issues of national importance. Examples include National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission and national Safe Routes to School issues and legislation. We organize a delegation to attend the national Bike Summit each year, and we pass along action alerts to our members and constituents. In addition, the BTA continues to play a leadership role in shaping national Safe Routes to School policies and programs.

Our key partners at the national level include the League of American Bicyclists, the National Center for Bicycling and Walking, America Bikes, and the Alliance for Biking and Walking.

Oregon is the only state whose complete Congressional delegation are members of the Bike Caucus, an informal group of Representatives and Senators organized by Congressman Earl Blumenauer.
