Job Opening: Development and Finance Assistant

The Development and Finance Assistant will support the Bicycle Transportation Alliance’s fundraising, marketing, communications, and financial management efforts.

Job Duties

The Development and Finance Assistant will be actively involved in all aspects of fundraising, marketing, communications, and financial management. The job is roughly half development assistance and half financial management.  The Development and Finance Assistant will work closely with the Development Director, Executive Director and Office Manager.

Development responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the membership, individual, major donor, corporate, and foundation giving programs.
  • Accurate data entry and prompt donor acknowledgement.
  • Assisting with various print design and production needs.
  • Tracking and reporting performance of various fundraising programs.
  • Event coordination, including securing appropriate venues and refreshments, coordinating with guest speakers, issuing invitations, and tracking RSVPs.
  • Volunteer coordination to ensure fundraising goals are met.

Finance responsibilities include:

  • Handling all accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Bill processing and preparing checks for BTA staff signature.
  • Tracking and reporting on expenses and earnings by program.
  • Preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Managing timecards and reporting payroll.
  • Contract administration and billing.
  • Insurance and benefits implementation.
  • Leading preparation for the annual audit.
  • Assisting in creation of the annual budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • The ability to write clearly and fluently, manage many tasks at one time, and meet deadlines
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, FileMaker Pro, Quickbooks)
  • Strong financial sense and ability with numbers
  • A sense of humor and the ability to work as a part of a team
  • A strong belief in the benefits of bicycling for the environment, public health, and community livability

Salary

$12-$17/hr depending on experience and qualifications. 40 hour work week. Benefits, including health and dental, retirement, vacation.
