BTA Job OpeningPedestrian Safety Education (PSE) Program Instructor, Portland-Metro RegionDescriptionThe Pedestrian Safety Education Program Instructor will work with the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) to instruct an in-school program with 2nd and 3rd grade students in Portland elementary schools. The Pedestrian Safety Education Program teaches kids about intersections and how to safely walk on urban streets. The instructor will coordinate with the Alliance for Community Traffic Safety in Oregon (ACTS Oregon) and the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition (WPC) for training and curriculum development. Some training in BTA’s Bicycle Safety Education programs will be provided. Job Duties

Time RequirementsDates: BTA is seeking to hire a Program Coordinator to attend an instructors’ training from March 9th through March 11th. Steady spring work will begin the first week of April. Applications will be accepted through February 23rd. BTA is looking to hire someone who will also be available to teach from September through November, to coincide with the autumn teaching season. Hours: This position is seasonal, averaging about 30 hours per week in the spring and fall teaching seasons. The position requires the ability to work during school hours from Monday through Friday. The Pedestrian Safety Instructor will be fairly inactive in the summer and winter months. Compensation$14/hr.
